The Galleries at Moore mount contemporary art and design exhibitions with an international scope, and have subscribed to CloudMeeting in order to hold global video meetings with the artists and art professionals involved.

Planning and producing a top-level exhibit at The Galleries is a complex process lasting two years or more and requiring intensive collaboration and negotiation not only with the artist, but frequently with an international network of museums and collectors. During the planning period typically three international trips are necessary in order to adequately resolve not only the conceptual aspects of the exhibit, but questions of exhibition format, exhibition layout, publications, touring the exhibition, etc.

Building Relationships

“The key to a successful exhibit is building trust and having clear, in-depth communication, which is difficult to accomplish with e-mail and the telephone. We are also frequently bridging a language barrier, and the lack of visual cues complicates matters. That’s why we have to travel and/or bring the artist here several times in person – we need to really talk, we need to show floor layout designs, look at and discuss images of art, etc. With the integrated application sharing I can make changes in a floor plan or text on the spot during a conference – the time lost in iterations of discuss-change-email can be reduced enormously.

Quality Up, Costs Down

“Our principal goal in using CloudMeeting is qualitative, in order to establish a better rapport from the beginning with the artist and get better definition of certain key topics early on, but we also think it will enable us to eliminate an average of one international trip per exhibit. Net savings from using CloudMeeting are projected to be around $15,000 in the first year. Our total capital investment to get started was $50 for a webcam and $20 for a headset. Like any institution or business, we are always looking for a better return on limited resources.
