CloudMeeting Adds Languages and European Operations

CloudMeeting, the global real-time conferencing and collaboration service, announced further international growth plans with expanded multilanguage support and the start of server operations in Europe.

The new software version adds French, German, Italian, and Japanese to the already-supported English, Spanish, and Portuguese. "As a global service, we want to make CloudMeeting as easy to use for as many business users and for the contacts with which they might want to hold a meeting," observed the company's CEO, John Callon. "Especially business people everywhere are used to seeing a lot of computer-related things in English, but for many there is no substitute for the familiarity of your own language. We want to simplify doing business, not complicate it, and trying to use a tool not in your own language can be complicating."

With respect to We expect to grow substantially in usage in these markets, and this was a request from several of our resellers."

According to the director, users do not need to download separate versions or even stop to choose the language. "It's a single, multi-language download, after that it's just click and meet. The software detects automatically the default language you've set in your PC."

CloudMeeting also started call server operations for European users in a London data center, complementing existing infrastructure in the United States and South America.

"You can use CloudMeeting just fine from anywhere on the planet," explained Lisa Spivak, Senior Operations Engineer for the CloudMeeting service. "But as our customer base has grown in Europe, it started to make sense to reduce average latencies for those users by routing their conferencing traffic to servers nearby."

The engineer further clarified that "actually, users won't even notice the difference. But at the margins, with users who might be on a poor Internet connection, especially from Eastern Europe and points further, the latency reduction will help maintain our guaranteed meeting quality."
